In depth
The Ministro dell'Interno (Minister of the Interior) is the Italian government official responsible for citizenship policy, immigration, and internal security. The Ministry of Interior (Ministero dell'Interno) oversees the anagrafe system, the prefetture, and citizenship appeals.
For CBD cases, the Ministry of Interior is involved in policy decisions (issuing circolari), appeals (denaturalization cases), and oversight of the consular system. Most CBD applications are processed by consulates or courts without direct Ministry involvement.
The Ministry also publishes statistics on Italian citizenship applications and recognitions, which Ancestra tracks for case strategy.
