In depth
The Junta Central Electoral (JCE, Central Electoral Board) is the Dominican Republic government agency responsible for civil registry and elections. It processes Dominican citizenship by descent applications.
For Dominican CBD cases, the JCE is the primary filing authority. Applications can be filed at JCE offices in the Dominican Republic or at Dominican consulates abroad. Processing time is 10-20 months.
The JCE also issues the Dominican cédula (national identity card) and the Dominican birth certificate, which serve as proof of citizenship.
