In depth
SAIME (Servicio Administrativo de Identificación, Migración y Extranjería, Administrative Service of Identification, Migration, and Foreigners) is the Venezuelan government agency responsible for civil registry, immigration, and citizenship.
For Venezuelan CBD cases, SAIME is the primary filing authority. Applications can be filed at SAIME offices in Venezuela or at Venezuelan consulates abroad. Processing time is 12-24 months (longer due to the ongoing crisis in Venezuela).
SAIME also issues the Venezuelan cédula and Venezuelan passport. Ancestra coordinates with Venezuelan consulates that remain operational.
